Just like any other town, the social level a person obtains depends on their wealth, power, and status. The downside to my town is that social status plays a large role in my town. Like I said about my friend Gabby in her interview, she is always going to big social events such as weddings and parties. Certain families want to be seen in certain scenes and therefore want to associate with people of a specific class.

Usually social stratification deals with the concepts above in the picture; however, for my town specifically, it mostly involves the categories of class, religion, and ethnicity.

- As a whole, Great Neck has its own shared culture because there are certain interactions that are only understood by people who live in Great Neck that people out of the town would not understand nor fit into.
- Status will be important to every community. Peoples' statuses reflect who they will associate with, where they will live, and what they will be doing on a daily basis
- Every person possesses a different role. Whether living in Great Neck or not, each person builds up a role for himself/ herself that determines how other people see him/her.
- Life consists of plenty of norms that society has to comply with on a day-to- day basis. In Great Neck, there are specific norms that people know to follow in order to be in accordance with Great Neck life.
- For example, orthodox Jews are seen crowding around the streets walking to temple every Saturday morning
- Persian families gather for family meals every Friday night.
